" - Just make a normal installation with a Win XP Pro (SP2) with the SATA drivers slipstreamed.
- Then install the Microsoft patch kb888111 for UAA High Definition Audio driver:
I took the “kb888111xpsp2” file from the HP driver package “sp39457”, but I didn't use the included sound driver because the sound only comes through the subwoofer.
- Download the IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver from the Microsoft Update Catalogue homepage instead (take this version of the XP drivers: Windows XP, 05.09.2007, 5.10.5607.0, 1,9 MB)
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/...rch.aspx?q=idt
and extract and install the driver manually.
You'll see the sound works perfectly (boxes on top and the subwoofer)!
But unfortunately when I restarted the computer the sound disappeared from the device manager without any reason as some of you also experienced. This problem can't be solved with any driver that I found in the world wide web . . . and believe me I tried a a lot.
In order to have sound again I found out that I just have to deactivate and activate the Microsoft UAA High Definition Audio driver in the device manager and suddenly the sound is immediately available.
To avoid activating the sound manually every time I restart my computer, I wrote a small batch file, which starts my sound automatic-manually this way and is stored in the auto boot folder. Every time I restart my computer again the batch file starts automatically and it only takes about 10 seconds until I get sound.
Maybe my solution is not the best way to solve this problem, but it works for me and is better than to buy an external sound card .
How to create your own batch file:
- Download the DevCon command-line utility from Microsoft
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...1272&x=17&y=10
which is pretty much the same like the device manager as a console and extract it to a folder.
- Make a bat-file with the following text:
c:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe (or any other path, where you stored your DevCon folder) restart PCI\VEN_8 ... (Hardware ID of the Microsoft UAA driver for High Definition Audio, which you can find in the device manager, properties of UAA, tab details and has to be copied exactly)
I think this way is a good interim solution until someone finds or even writes a new sound driver that is compatible with the DV7 and Win XP.
By the way: To minimize the pop-up window it helps to create a link in the auto boot folder and store the batch-file somewhere else.
Hopefully my explanations aren't too confusing and sorry for my horrible English.
If anyone has any question feel free to ask . "

Microsoft patch kb888111 for UAA High Definition Audio driver
UAA High Defenition
3. устанавливаем IDT звук и Nvidia HDMI
